We all know how much rain Sydney has been getting recently, so when the Doggie Rescue team reached out to see if we could assist with a large roofing project that they desperately needed we were happy to help!
We were able to award them a grant of $26,000 to cover all costs and they jumped straight to work!
This project will provide additional shelter from rain and intense heat to 4 kennel areas, as well as providing cover for most washing lines and a sheltered walkway. Every Doggie Rescue resident gets clean, dry, bedding every single night, which makes for a lot of washing!
The new roof provides shelter from the weather for volunteers who hang out 20 bags of washing every day. With two of the SavourLife team having worked as kennel hands at Doggie Rescue before joining us, we know what a huge and important job being able to provide clean bedding to each dog is, and also how difficult that becomes as soon as it rains!
We hope this roof makes for a lot of happy dogs and volunteers this winter!
