It's our birthday!

“It's hard to comprehend that we are 9 years old! It seems like yesterday, but also a lifetime ago that we launched our little social enterprise. Then I look back on all our team has achieved (and look at how grey both Missy and I have become around the muzzle😊) and realise all the good things those times have delivered. We passed some big milestones this year and have now donated over $4.8M to over 240 rescue groups nationwide. Our Adopt-A-Dog platform has now had over 50 million page views (yes 50 million!) getting eyeballs on pups when they need help the most. That has helped us support the re-homing of over 41,000 dogs. All achievements I am super proud of.

 

After the enormous amount of dogs that we were able to help during COVID, we really felt like we were turning a corner and making great strides towards our mission of having no adoptable dogs euthanised in Australia. The world feels like it has flipped upside down in the last six months and many of our rescue partners now face the most difficult circumstances they have ever faced, with a surge of abandonment and less enquiries for existing dogs, combined with difficulties in finding new foster carers; taking a huge toll on them. I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge everything these little rescues do. It can be thankless, heartbreaking, and difficult work but they show up day after day and help thousands of dogs every year. All of us at SavourLife are incredibly proud to be supporting them.

Our products are what makes any of this possible and we are excited to have launched five new recipes in our Grain-Free and Ancient Grains ranges in the last year, including our first ever ‘Sensitive’ recipe for those with chicken allergies. We also launched our Essentials food range to make great quality food accessible to as many dogs as possible. In very exciting news you can look out for us to show up in a completely new area of food soon too (feel free to guess in the comments what it is!). And we always make sure we have some yummy new treats to round it out.

And so we look forward to the next year!  What can we do to change this environment? How can we help more?  How do we get closer to achieving our mission? It’s going to be about more education and preventative measures.  It’s about being flexible in helping our rescue partners through a very challenging time and their changing needs that go with that.  It’s a massive challenge, but one we get up every morning to try and solve.

 

So happy birthday to us! We are still the same little family company you have always known, with big dreams. We are still proudly Australian made and owned! Thank you once again for helping make our family business truly “Dog Food that Makes a Difference”!
