Hero is a little dog with a big heart who overcame a horrible start to life.

Hero from Denise at Paws visits Bondi Vet

Hero is a special little guy rescued by Denise at Paws who is definitely living up to his name!

Hero was was born with a deformed front leg which he can't use to walk and puts considerable pressure on his back legs.

After settling into care Denise was concerned that the mobility of his back legs was effecting his quality of life and as with every dog that comes into her care, she wanted to make sure that they had explored all options to give him the best life possible.

Denise at Paws is a not for profit dog rescue organisation run by volunteers who give their time freely to help homeless dogs in need. They rescue dogs from pounds in NSW and take in private surrenders from people unable to care for their pets.

Dr Rob Zammit from the Bondi Vet team made a special trip to come out and meet Hero and see what he could do to help.

Update!

Since his operation Hero was fostered by a new carer called Narelle while recovering from surgery. In that time he not only settled into her home but also her heart and became a Foster Fail!

From Narelle

"When I first met Hero I was so upset that such a sweet dog had so many health problems that I knew I had to help. True to his name he was a little fighter to pull through it all.

Since his leg operation Hero has blossomed into a happy, fun loving, boisterous dog, able to use the stairs and doggie door, always playing with his ball and toys, chasing birds and his older sister Trixie. He no longer has to take pain medication and does not need to have rest periods throughout the day.

He truly does not know he is different to other dogs and it is a joy to have him as part of our family.

I can't thank Rob from Bondi Vet for all the support and love from him, his staff and family."

We are so grateful to Denise at Paws for their dedication to saving dogs like Hero!
