Like many greyhounds, Caliban was surrendered to Greyhound Rescue simply because he was not fast enough.
The good news is he will now be able to find a loving home where he can be the centre of attention and part of a family that love him just the way he is.
Greyhound Rescue visited the Bondi Vet team with Caliban for his desexing procedure to prepare him for adoption, but it wasn't as straight forward as they first thought!
About The Rescue
Greyhound Rescue was established in 2009 and finds loving forever homes for greyhounds no longer wanted by the racing industry. Having found homes for close to 300 greyhounds in the past year alone, Greyhound Rescue play an important role in helping greyhounds discover new lives as cherished family pets.
They position themselves as a bridge between racing life and pet life, providing greyhounds with the tools they need to cope with their new surroundings. So many things are new to them, so their volunteers work to introduce these beautiful dogs to new skills and experiences slowly and with compassion, letting the greyhound set the pace and learn.

Update!
We're very happy to report that Caliban recovered well from his surgery and returned into care with Greyhound Rescue. A few weeks later we got a call from the team to let us know that Cali had been adopted and was living the dream.
Caliban's adopters had this to say:
“Cali now Moo adopted us three months ago, but it is already hard to remember what daily life was like without him in it. He came to live with us on a trial basis two weeks after his surgery by Bondi Vet, as a very sensitive and timid 2 year old boy.
In three months of living the dream in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, he has settled into pet life like a duck in water. He is a super quick learner compared to other breeds of dogs we’ve had before.
His gorgeously calm nature also means he has no reactivity to other dogs (even when there are multiple small fluffies yapping at him like crazy) and is a natural cuddler most at ease while leaning on humans who are willing to give him ear scratches.
He therefore joins us pretty much everywhere we are able to take him, be it family and friends’ homes, cafes, pubs, park runs (fact check: we are running but it’s merely a power walk for Moo), dog beaches, car rides, and his dad’s dog friendly workplace. We recently even took him on a road trip up to the mid-north coast for some fresh air, open spaces and quieter ocean swims, and he further flourished in pet life.
Words can’t describe the joy Moo brings each day. To me, he is the loveliest, goofiest, funniest-without-trying, and most sensitive creature in the world, and I feel privileged to help him live a great life.
He is also helping us to live a great life and reap the health benefits — we’ve been repeatedly told we look healthier since Moo has been around, too! All in all, I highly recommend adopting a greyhound to those considering it, especially through Greyhound Rescue.”
